The Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras, stressed today that Peru has the strongest currency in Latin America, in addition to being one of the countries with the lowest risk.
"First of all, despite all the complex scenario, the Peruvian economy is one that stands out in the region, because in recent years it registered a lot of growth, we have economic stability and remarkable progress has been made in many indicators," he said.
"By way of introduction and as a reflection of this economic institutionality, Peru stands out for having the strongest currency in the region and being one of the countries with the lowest risk. The sol is one of the most stable currencies and it is not the economy minister who says so, but many local and international investors," he added. During a session of the Special Commission for Monitoring Peru's Incorporation into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (CESIP-OECD) of the Congress of the Republic, Alex Contreras explained that there is an idea that Peru fulfills its commitments and keeps its fiscal accounts orderly.
“Public investment continues to advance at a good pace, the level reached in April is the highest in history. Something important is that both the execution of regional and local governments have begun to grow, ”he said.
He also indicated that inflation has been slowing down and there is a significant recovery in business and consumer confidence.
